Indigenous Services Canada (ISC) in Ontario is piloting Micro-Subdivisions to address the housing needs of First Nation communities On-Reserve. Persistent challenges, such as overcrowding, population growth, and inadequate infrastructure, continue to impact these communities. In partnership with Tribal Councils, ISC is supporting selected communities to study and create new micro-developments. This innovative approach aims to provide high-density housing that balances privacy and traditional practices, while enhancing housing options for vulnerable populations in high-need communities. The project seeks to improve living conditions and create safer housing solutions for those facing the most significant housing challenges
First Nation communities and their technical advisors that continue to face significant challenges, including overcrowding, population growth, homelessness, insecure housing, limited capacity to manage housing projects, inadequate infrastructure, and a shortage of suitable land for development, should attend the session.
