First established in 1992, the Naicatchewenin First Nation Housing Policy was developed for the betterment of their community. The policy lays out everything from how to apply for housing to home damage protocol. The result is accountability on the part of homeowners and tenants, transparency on the part of the committee, and a well-maintained community.

Along with the policy is the Housing Committee, a group that oversees the implementation of the Housing Policy. Housing Committee Members are people who, regardless of their occupation or age are genuinely interested in the Housing needs of the community and are willing to work to see those needs are met.

The Housing Policy is a living document and is under constant revision. Newly developed this year is the upcoming voluntary Maintenance Program. Home owners can pay a monthly fee, which would keep the home eligible for Band managed repairs, such as roofs, doors, windows and health related issues.
