Session Overview

Homes and communities across Canada are facing increasing risk of damage from wildfires. Construction practices can be adapted for new and existing homes to improve their resilience to the stresses of wildfires – embers, flames, heat, and smoke. Newly developed solutions and resources will be discussed.

The cost of housing projects is difficult to accurately estimate. Decision makers lack points of reference for how much projects should cost. New tools and methodologies have been developed to obtain up to date and regionally specific costs that can be applied to upcoming community scale housing projects. These solutions have been successfully leveraged for Indigenous housing projects.
