By the end of the presentation, the attendees will know more about the most significant changes that were introduced to the NBC 2015, Part 9 Housing. Half the changes deal with stairs, ramps, handrails and guards. In addition, changes in seismic hazard values and snow load values lead, in some cases, to changes to the design requirements. A new metric has also been introduced to better measure the Airborne sound transmission. Many of the outdated or withdrawn CGSB standards referenced for roofing, damp-proofing and waterproofing materials and installation applications were replaced. Finally, requirements have been introduced in Par 9 for Exterior Insulation Finishing Systems (EIFS).
